Hele Bay

Hele Bay, just over 1 mile from Ilfracombe, is a safe shingle beach which offers some sand at low tide.  The many rock pools offer plenty of fun for the children as does the tide filled childrens swimming pool.

At a very low tide it is possible to clamber around the left hand side of the beach to 'Fishing Rock' and 'Blythes Cove', but care must be taken not to be cut off by rising tides. Hele is adjacent to Hillsborough Nature Reserve and there is also a working 16th centry mill and a pottery mill where you can make you own pot nearby.
